Having a Ball

Everyone knows by now Taylor's love of balls.  A ball is really her toy of choice, any size.  We found a racketball in the garage and started playing with it.  This is the game we played

Fetch!  Sorta, I guess.

She loves to chase after and throw balls, and the racketball is extra bouncy so it's extra fun!

Miss Mix-A-Lot

You know, like Sir Mix-A-Lot.  Geez, that was a long time ago that guy was popular...now I feel old.

One of Taylor's new favorite things to do, especially at Nana and Grandpa's house, is get on the computer and look at pictures of herself.  What a ham!

She likes the videos even more!  The other day I got our computer out and we watched some videos of her.  She quickly figured out that pushing the buttons made it start and stop - like she was a DJ at a club or something adding in her own mix to it.

Yes, she was dancing and watching herself dance on the computer.  Silly girl.

Father's Day

We had a great Father's Day!  My Mom and Dad came over for brunch where I told them I would cook something 'spectacular'... it was pancakes and eggs.  Everyone ate everything so I guess it really was spectacular!

Tickle Taylor!

Grandpa and Taylor

JT got to pick what we did for dinner, and of course he picked Red Lobster - that's his traditional birthday dinner and one of his favorite places to go eat when he gets to pick.

Taylor and Daddy before our celebratory dinner

Isn't her hair so long?!  It's growing so fast.  It's still in the mullet stage if we don't have it pulled back somehow - the back and her bangs are growing faster than the sides, which equal a mullet.

Anyways, we had a great dinner - Taylor didn't whine too much and she actually ate what we ordered for her!  She loved the cheese-garlic biscuits (and really, who doesn't?), ate a good bit of mashed potatoes, and even a couple popcorn shrimp!

We experimented with putting her in a booster seat in the booth with us, rather than the high chair (she hates being strapped down) and she did surprisingly well.  Of course she was in and out of it quite a few times, but she ate her dinner and hardly whined - success!  We did have to make 1 trip to the fish tank they have to keep her occupied until the food arrived.   We have also started ordering her own kids cup at restaurants, she loves that!  I think it's part because we get cups and now so does she,  part the fun pictures that come on the cups, and part she gets to pull the straw in and out.

You know I can't resist...here is father's day last year

Wow, she has gotten so big.  Kids sure do grow up fast!

Happy Father's Day!

Still Texan, but with a Little Cajun Seasoning

Most everyone knows now, but in case you missed it - we are moving to Shreveport, JT finally got a job!!!

I never, EVER would have thought we would be moving back to where we met in college - sometimes life has a funny way of working itself out.  Once we left Shreveport we moved to Texas, to North Carolina, to Hawaii, to Virginia, back to Texas and now back to Shreveport!  What a wild ride!!!

It has been such a roller coaster ride over the past 6 months, but we are so grateful for the job that he has been offered.  There were some days where I honestly didn't know if we were going to be OK or where we would end up - and that is scary.

Throughout the entire job hunting process, and even before when he was still in grad school, he prayed that God wold make it very obvious as to what He wanted him to do.  We just didn't want to have to make a tough decision.  And after many closed doors (some slammed shut) this one is wide open.  It is such an answered prayer as this job opportunity is great blessing.  It will allow me to continue being a stay-at-home mom (something that is very important to JT and I) and will let us get a bigger house (something that is  very important to ME as a stay-at-home mom!).  We are so blessed.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone's continued thoughts and prayers, I could feel them.  We put all of our trust in God, and He provided.

So get ready, Shreveport because here we come!

Bed Head

Yesterday Taylor took a MARATHON nap - close to 4 hours!  Of course, she didn't sleep as long as she usually does the night before so she was mighty tired.  But, that has never made her nap longer before.  This is how she woke up

A complete, sweaty mess.  She does sweat when she takes a nap, so I have to turn the thermostat way down and turn 2 fans on in her room.  She has never been this sweaty before, but then again she never slept that long before either!  She was in a great mood all evening too - but didn't want to go to sleep at her normal bedtime.  Guess that's the price you pay for taking a 4 hour nap.

18 Months

Taylor is now closer to 2 than she is to 1!  Thanks Rach for pointing that out to me.  Taylor's baby days have been left in the dust!  Just look at her, she takes up this whole chair now.

On Saturday (her 18 month birthday) we took an impromptu trip to the Botanical Gardens to let her roam around - and to just get out of the house.  Lately, she has been whining at the front door, we go outside and she goes over the the car as to say, 'let's go somewhere'.  She gets cabin fever pretty quick.

We found a little pond that had some HUGE fish and tons of turtles.  Taylor was fascinated.

I took the opportunity to snap a quick picture while we were in such a pretty place.  I don't have many pictures of just me and Taylor since I am always the one with the camera.  Wonder when JT will figure out that if HE has the camera he won't have to be in as many pictures (he hates being in pictures).
After lunch at Chipotle, and nap time we invited our friends Nikki, Casey and their 3 kids (The Circus) over for hamburgers, french fries and brownies.  If Taylor is getting whiny while I am trying to cook something, I put her in the barstool to 'help' me.  I gave her the beater to lick after making the brownies...

I turn around to do something real quick and come back to the brownies to see this!
That little stinker is dipping it in for more brownie mix!  Smart kid.

We had her 18 month appointment today where she is healthy and growing right on track.  I voiced my concern about her extreme picky eating, lately she has really only wanted to eat cheese.  The doc thinks in a few months she will come around with eat more variety of foods...we'll see.

Here are her stats:
24 lbs 2 oz - 50%
32 1/4 inches - 70%

Grew 2 inches and gained 3 pounds since her 12 month appt.   Guess it's all that cheese.

Not as tall as people say she is (everyone thinks she is 2), but still on the taller end.

Lately, she has a fascination with trucks and tractors.  She knows where there is a tractor-looking thing on our normal commute around town and I swear even before we get to it she is saying 'taa-taa' (tractor).  It's parked on a bridge where they are doing construction, and right below it is a large train yard.  She then says, 'choo choo' for train.  Genius I tell you.

Funny enough that she is fascinated with tractors, but she is scared of baby dolls!  Ha!  She really is my child.  I think because it looks like a baby but isn't, I really don't know.  Whenever she sees one she cries or is scared to even go near it.

Her favorite word is 'mommy' - melts my heart, except she calls everyone mommy!  It's a work in progress.

She still loves books, but loves balls even more.  The other day while in Walmart she saw the biggest bin of balls and about went nuts she was so excited.  They were only $1 so we got one and even brought it into the dressing room with us so she could play with it while I tried on clothes (I'm a big spender, can't you tell).  She literally bounced it off the walls and had the best time.  Score one for mommy.  Genius I tell you.

Her sleeping is going pretty good, she always sleeps through the night but sometimes wakes up pretty early (for me at least).  Naps have been great (knock on wood) and typically lasts 2-3 hours.  She goes down around 1:00 or 2:00 and sleeps the afternoon away!  Hope I didn't just jinx it.

Happy 18 months Taylor!

Video Killed the Radio Star

As we embark on the 18 month mark, Taylor is doing so many new things.  And I guess I have been taking more videos than pictures to capture what she is doing.  Here are a few just from this week.

She is such a ham.  She has been flirting with herself in the mirror, tilting her head and giving herself a cute little smile.  I caught the tail end of this, but I walked into her room and she was literally talking to herself in the mirror.  Full on conversation.  I ran to get the camera, then of course she stopped.  But is cute, nonetheless.

We went to the Ridglea pool with my mom this week where Taylor had a blast!  She was a little hesitant at first, which she is about most things, but didnt take her long to get warmed up to it.  Not sure what she is doing at the end, I think trying to put together the noodles.

Please ignore the mildew, I could rattle off excuses about why its there...but hey, its my blog and my house.  Anyways, Taylor's 'Taylorish' is turning into English!  The bathtub is a good place to show off her skillz (yeah that's right - skillz!) because she can't run away.  Here are a few of her words.  She has gotten real good lately at letting us know when she wants more of something - will hold up her empty cup asking for more juice.  And bringing me her shoes (or my shoes) saying 'shoos' - which means let's go outside!

Just For Fun

Lately, Taylor has enjoyed putting on our shoes and trying to walk around.

She's almost mastered it.

Silly kid.
